GEOPROBE

For me, this was an awful experience.  I was sick with a sinus infection so standing out in the cold for 3 hours was torture.  However, it was interesting to see the process and neat to pull earth from the ground 15 feet down.  As a nursing student, this stuff pretty much all looked the same except for when it was more grainy and wet vs solid clay that was very firm.  It is nice to know there is equipment out there and people looking under ground to test where it is appropriate to build and where it is not.  This class has been very informative to me as it has taught me how much of an impact humans have on Earth.  It is sad to see the kind of destruction we emit.  However, I am hopeful in seeing the students in this field and how much they care and want to be a part of helping save our planet.  If nothing else, I will take away from this class a more conscious effort to recycle, educate friends, and re-use what I am able to.

What I learned from the bore holes about the land Alverno sits on is honestly not much.  Most of this stuff has been developed on time and time again.  It would be neat to go a lot deeper and find out what kind of rock may be beneath.
