WELLS AND BORINGS

When Chelsea came to talk to our class about the land surveys she performs she discussed bore holes and permanent and temporary wells.  She discussed the process of digging the bore holes to collect soil samples in order to analyze how safe or toxic it was.

I was shocked when she showed us the purple toxic soil she had took as a sample from a factory site.  Having a visual helped me realize how awful chemicals can be to Earth and the sever impact factories and gas stations have.

While reading the Wisconsin administrative Code on well water monitoring wells it was tedious to see how particular they were on how big the holes could be and what kind of material were allowed to be placed in the earth.  There are exact specifications on every single part of the process including the sealing process.

  1. JoAnna, I like how you make your reflections a combination of reaction and information, and especially when you point out info that was new to you and made an impact on your thinking. You are also really good about posting visuals to illustrate your topics, which makes the posts always fun to look at. Love the congressional setting to illustrate the WI Admin Code. I would guess that there is a lot of legalese in health care documents, as well, right?
